Making Virtual High School Accessible For Students Around the World
UFuture Academy Website
My Role: Website Designer/Creative Director
Client: UFuture Academy
Project Type: Freelance
Tools: Figma, InVision
Timeline: 2 weeks
Status: Under development
When the COVID-19 pandemic started, many international high school students in both Canada and the United States left to go back to their home countries to be with their loved ones.
Now, it has become incredibly difficult for these students to continue their high school education abroad, and they are unable to return to Canada to complete their high school credits.
My client, UFuture Academy is looking to tackle this problem and is on a mission to make virtual high school accessible and inclusive for international students.
I was hired as the website designer and creative director for this project. As creative director, I worked closely with the client to develop a clearer understanding of the business goals and brand identity for the online platform. In addition, I used InVision to create a set of mood boards to serve as inspiration for the various visual directions that could be taken by the company.
As the website designer, I integrated my client’s feedback on the mood board options I had presented into the development of a high-fidelity mockup for the website home page. The remainder of the website design is currently under development.

THE PROCESS
STEP 2 - VISUAL DIRECTION PROPOSAL
The next step was to create a mood board proposing three options for different visual styles that could be implemented into the design of the new website and have the client decide on a preferred style.
Option 1 - Bold and Friendly
Keywords: Cheerful, Inclusive, Creative, Innovative
Option 2 - Soft and Classic
Keywords: Preppy, Light, Friendly, Innovative
Option 3 - Bold and Professional
Keywords: Flexible, Affordable, Loyal, Intriguing
THE PROCESS
STEP 3 - EXECUTION
After presenting the mood board options to my client, they felt that Option 3 - Bold and Professional best reflected their brand because the colour scheme seemed professional and educational, yet fun and playful. The final step was to take the client’s vision and make it come to life through a mockup.
